Making Kimber with WE 1911 Tactical

Would it be possible to create a WE 1911 Tactical based Kimber?
Replacing almost everything available aftermarket parts that were made for the TM 1911 and use them on the WE. For example: SD Slide, Nineball controls, piston, hop up, and so on.

you'd be better off order a tm 1911 + nova or pgc conversion kit.

Seeing as your located in NY you'll have no problem with customs.

*edit the WE 1911 is crap.

I used to think so too, but then i actually got one, and ive put 6k rounds through it in one month, and not a single major issue, i freaking love the thing, the only problem i had was the leaf spring bent a little so it wasnt pushing on the sear, but that was easy to fix

That's really a matter of perspective. If you're wanting to build a gun for gaming that's going to get scratched up and tossed around, a WE with the SD slide is going to be alot cheaper to build and it's full metal out of the box. A TM with all the expensive Nova stuff is a much nicer gun but it's going to cost alot more and in the end, it's only cosmetics. You can replace all the upper slide parts as they break down (and trust me they will eventually- they all do after time, even in the TMs') with the same after market parts that are designed for the TM 1911 and the lower internal parts can be replaced with TM Hi-Cappa guts. Generally all the parts that are problematic in a WE are replaceable with the TM parts. In the end it's a matter of personal preference. I have several TMs' and one WE that's 2 years old and the only problem I've had with it is the little plastic part on the chamber block broke-so I used a TM one. I currently have the slide on a PGC lower, and a Zeke slide on the WE. Pics are in the 1911 thread if you want to have a look. The WE is the one with the square trigger guard. Both guns work great and I use them for gaming more than my Novas'.

I would but TM 1911 mags kinda suck, b/c I have a TM 1911 and use to have the WE and the gas on that was pretty good after using a TM aftermarket valve.

lol tm mags suck?

theguy July 23rd, 2009 21:19

TM mags are probably the best out there...

Fixed

but in the TM 1911, they stretched the gas too thin, with 26 shots on such a small gas reservoir, theres alot of times you cant get off all the shots

mrRay July 23rd, 2009 21:54

as far as what I heard and know you wont get a full mag out with a TM 1911 or MEU.
When you insert your mag to charge, all TM mags have the hiss sound which physically shows your wasting as much as your putting in, using two mags worth of gas into one mag.

Also, no one said anything about TM mags sucking, I said the 1911's mag suck. Please read carefully.

Going back to the point, do not want anymore misleads.
I am looking for people that actually own the gun or can help me out with this project.

Depends how accurate you want to be: the rail on the WE Tactical is different from the one on the Kimber. And obviously you won't have Kimber markings.

If you can live with that (I suppose you could get an aftermarket slide with Kimber markings, too), you just need to swap grips really.

Like I said, depends how much of a stickler you are for accuracy.
