Yet another Systema after-market part failiure.
 

OK. I seem to have no luck at all with "quality" stuff...

A while back, I upgraded my M15A4 rifle. I had put about 20000 rounds with the stock CA internals. Short of the cylinder and spring, I replaced the whole compression system with Systema parts, including a bearing spring guide, polycarb piston, silient cylinder & piston head set, tappet plate, and nozzle.

My new piston exploded after about 200 rounds, so I had to replace it with the stock CA piston that had absolutely no wear after all those rounds.

Yesterday, I was out playing with some guys, and all of a sudden (while lining up my sights), the gun stopped feeding. Everything else seemed to work and sound normal. So I looked into the loading tube as I fired, and the nozzle wasn't moving. So I knew it either had to be the nozzle itself, or the tappet plate.And upon opening up my mechbox, I found it was the Systema tappet plate that had broken. Since I installed the Systema parts, I've fired at most 750 rounds through this gun. And 2 out of the 5 have already failed.

I simple replaced it with the stock CA tappet plate and once again, it works like a charm. So, not sure if this is a "review" or just a general comment about Systema "upgrade" parts in general. But as of now, I'm really not impressed with what I've seen from Systema in terms of parts.

Modify has been GREATLY giving me the best results over any other aftermarket parts I've dealt with in the past, and this includes Guarder, Systema, DeepFire (hehe, total crap). Had such bad experiences with the above I was actually a hardcore stock TM parts guy, until I experienced a half dozen or so guns with TM gears shedding teeth and fragging the mechbox. Now I'm only left with Modify parts, I trust them, are well made, consistant and inexpensive (more so when one is a registered gun tech and gets a very nice discount!)

Yeah, Modify is what I was considering too. From what I've been reading, they seem to be very reliable and durable. When I upgraded, I went with all Systema to try to stick with the same manufacturer to avoid any potential problems. I think I should have done that, but went with Modify instead.

Oh well, lesson learned. It's pretty sad when stock CA parts that people consider to be "low quality" and problematic outlast expensive "high quality" parts from Systema. At least it was a simple problem and my baby is all fixed up and ready for Border Wars. As much fun as I had rocking my HK416 and RS Type 56 yesterday, I still felt at a serious disadvantage without my beloved M15.

I've been using the Modify parts since last fall, and have yet to see a failure on anything Modify I've installed in a gun, and the numbers are in the dozens so far. Tickle me impressed!

hey stalker have you tried Modify M120 and M140 springs yet? if so, what FPS did it give you in what kind of set up?

I don't like the Systema product either. Gaurder has been great to me. I installed an Area 1000 Systema tappet plate in my V2 Hurricane mechbox and it broke within 10 min. I wish there was an MP5 that came apart like the ICS M4!!!!

I haven't, I only buy the 90 and 100 springs, as they are awesome and very predictable. With a bearing spring guide typically I see around 330fps with the 90, and 370fps with the 100 Modify springs. These are what I tend to have in stock, and upgrades I'm asked of are generally sub-350fps for indoor use and sub-400fps for outdoors.

ICS is redesigning their MP5 series to have the the m4 style 2 peice gearbox. It is not yet relesed but it should be nearing completion.

Don't forget that Systema has 2 "grades" of parts - those branded "Systema", and those branded "Area 1000 by Systema". The Area1K are cheaper parts made specifically to replace stock parts in stock guns....generally these are the A1K pistons, piston heads, tappet plates and alloy bushings. They aren't designed to be used in highly-upgraded guns, and are generally made of plastic or alloy. The "Systema" branded parts are of higher quality and tend to be polycarb or steel, and come with a higher price. There is a huge difference between a plastic A1K piston and a polycarb Systema black piston.

Many of the failures I've seen in A1K parts is when people try to use them in 400+ fps setups. Put them in a stock gun (and by stock, I mean TM-level stock, around 300 fps) and they perform fine.

I use plenty of Systema parts in my GB, as most saw ive had a failure with my spring earlier in the year, so im on board with this hit and miss for supposed kick ass reliable parts. I use a Prometheus poly piston tho and never had a single failure yet in the year and countless thousands of rounds ive put through with 120sp springs. I hear the Modify poly is really good as well.

i put those systema area 1000 bushings in my kraken gearbox. no problems with them so far and i hope it stays that way

the majority of upgrade parts both internal and external that i have are made by G&P and they all seem pretty ok

But bushings are pretty cut and dry. Not like other parts. They can't really "break".

Yeah, none of my parts were Area 1000. They were all full Systema parts. I paid the extra wanting durability and reliability. So much for that plan...

i keep getting the feeling that i have something else made by systema too but i cant figure out what it is or maybe it was the area 1000 spring guide i wanted to put in my kraken but never got around to buying it. even at 10 dollars each for a set of bushings and the spring guide i think its a bit much to pay for just a little piece of metal when i really think about it

I decided to get a Modify FTK from Jugglez and it's been one of my greatest investments since; the parts are high quality, I love their modular gears and the antireversal latch was not only a breeze to install, but it's so useful!
