How will i know if the pinion gear fits just right on the bevel gear?

How do I adjust the motor height?

Just by sound...

Unless it is a very bad problem, I suggest leaving it. I made that mistake once and could never get it back to as good as it was.

Obviously he had to remove the grip since he is playing in the gearbox (see his other thread on shimming).

By sound alone is not enough to help him.

Thighten the screw until it sounds tight then unscrew until you only hear the sounds of the motor.

I agree it's not the best description either, but I find it hard to explain.

But, I suggest that you find yourself a gunsmith to either do the maintenace for you or find one that will teach you how to do it properly. I, for one will always ask for a second opinion when my gunsmith friend is around.

how about the height of the bevel gear? What if I put .6mm shims at the bottom of the bevel gear.. will the pinion gear still fit at the bevel gear?

IRC the bevel gear can make full engagement with pretty much any shim arrangement as it has a long engagement area.

My rule of thumb for grip screw setup is to start by cranking in the screw until you feel the motor bottom out against the bevel gear. Then back out by 1 full turn before starting any listening/tweaking.
