What to wear with a Paintball mask

Instead of glasses I use a paintball mask, Once I used a snowmobiling ski mask but I was hir above the forehead (Stupid situation. Someone shot me during a break)

What do you suggest I wear to avoid Fogging up and Injuries to the head XD

I dont have a picture to show you So It may be a problem.

You can buy a new face mask and get thermal, fog resistant lenses. Dont go for the cheap stuff either. Quality pays off.

Keep in mind what you wear will affect the sighting picture of shooting your gun. I found when trying paintball goggles and a full mask is that in order to look through my rifle scope, the goggles/mask would get shoved aside to the left, opening large gaps to BB entrance. That was JUST to be able to see the crosshairs in my scope! All depends on the type and profile of the eye protection you use, but you see the way paintballers shoot? Gun near the side of the head, raised somewhat? Is because with the protection they wear, you can't use normal sights on a gun unless an expensive setup, or many mods done to the set up. IMHO of course, but some of those things I've experienced, others can add suggestions to narrow down your search.

I'm curious as to how old you are. If your 18 you can come play with the rest of the Atlantic boys

Kastrenzo January 12th, 2007 07:17

Most of my friends are in the underage state (16 - 17 ish) So I naturally play with them, No one tries to be professional, But I need to find an answer to this soon because We are going airsofting on the marsh tommorow

First of all, stop using snowmobile ski masks, unless you don't value your eyes. Might as well go poke them out right now if you're going to continue to use ski masks.

Go to your nearest Wal-Mart and pick up a set of JT Alpha paintball masks. They use the Spectra (thermal) goggles, so they're relatively good for fogging problems. You can detach the goggles from the mask too, if you want. But I'm guessing you want the full face mask on, you can also buy the one that comes as a full head piece (helmet). I've seen them around here and there at various Wal-Marts. You can also wear a hat, boonie, helmet, etc. to protect your head if you want.

But the same goes with your friends, if they're not using adequate eye protection, tell them to stop playing.

agreed
ski masks are not ballistic goggles and not ANSI Z87.1 rated.

Personally, I recommend against paintball goggles. From a saftey point of view, paintball goggles are designed to bounce the paintball...spreads out the point of contact because it has more mass and inertia. This is great for paintball, but with airsoft, the object is more solid, and much softer. pressure is focused on a smaller area.
Ballistic goggles/glasses will stop a nailgun....a paintball mask will not. The reason some fields push for paintball goggles has nothing to do with impact resistance, it is out of worry of BBs getting in the sides, and in that scenario, a full paintball mask is better in theory.
I didnt think it mattered untill I saw 450fps bust a hole in a pair of paintball goggles.

you only get one pair of eyes, so don't take any chances. I suggest Bolle T800.

sherlockbonez January 12th, 2007 10:36

Bolles are nice, but if you play in multiple fields, chances are someone will make you break out the goggles regardless of performace.

Either way shouldn't be playing in the "marsh" anyways.

Pip January 12th, 2007 14:26

Yeah, personally i'd go for some ballistic rated gogs, but because we play on a pb field we have to use pb approved gogs *grumbles*

What to wear with a Paintball mask : I suggest platform shoes and a tutu.

ok I'm outta here :)

Armyissue January 12th, 2007 15:03

try a nomex balaclava and fire retard jump suit:p

Seriously loose the wide brim hat. Get gog fog spray from a scuba or ski shop and carry on.
PS: When you see the flashing colour lights and the guy in the really cool costume. Don't even try shooting him he won't call his hits! Fkn Cheeterz
