Having trouble with bolt

Hey guys, i'm having problems with my bolt action sniper... When I pull the bolt completely it slams by itself back foward like it isn't cocking. Sometimes it works just fine and then I can't even shoot...

I just saw that the piston is moving, how can I fix it?

Amos December 4th, 2016 11:16

Your sears are broken. You need to replace them. Most likely... the 2nd sear that contains the piston connecting one. I'm going by memory though and it's been a very long time.

Crap... How do I change these... I'm new to those things and I want to do it by myself

the.winter December 4th, 2016 11:33

Found it! Thanks for the tip :)

You may find it more efficient to replace the trigger grouping with a higher quality one than just replacing sears that will just wear out/break again.

the.winter December 4th, 2016 17:04

That's what i'm searching for... except I don't know what's good or not :/

Ricochet December 4th, 2016 17:48

What brand and model do you have?

the.winter December 4th, 2016 18:07

I have an ARES MSR 338, the spring and piston has been upgraded. Then the sears might have broke because it wasn't changed...

Ricochet December 4th, 2016 18:10

I believe this is it. Probably also available from x-fire and ehobby.

Is this good? http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...r_Rifle_BK.htm

And I think that the trigger system isn't the same on the AW338 and the MS338?

Ricochet December 4th, 2016 22:10

Couldn't tell you. Most people will recommend either PDI or Laylax. They are more expensive, but they are the go-to and the best.

ThunderCactus December 4th, 2016 22:35

I worked on an ARES MSR338 not too long ago, all I can tell you is they're shit.
I wouldn't run one if I got it for free. The internals are straight up atrociously bad.
Your only option is to replace the trigger box with another ARES trigger box that's going to have all the same problems.

Ricochet December 5th, 2016 00:14

Thunder can be an opinionated ray of sunshine, but he's right and knows his stuff. It's unfortunate, but the lamest, most plain-ass spring bolt snipers are the best ones.

the.winter December 5th, 2016 09:12

Well, it's a bummer I just recently got it and it's already broken... I don't really know what to do, do I sell it back once it's repaired and buy a vsr-10?
