Good tactical flashlights

Anyone know of good tactical flashlights for use with SMGs (i.e. p90)?
So far, what, looking good are the G&P 3000x (but this looks like its for pistols only?) and the G&P 6p, any other good ones out there?

Check out the Surefire line.

Have a look at the Streamlight line of flashlights. I use one for work and the quality is great.

check on WGC for any RIS compatible taclight. Take one with a remote pressure switch.

I have the Just 9v. It's as bright as my real surefire and the built quality is good. The pressure swith is ok, but a little temperemental at time.

The walter "police" line is also OK for airsoft.

Also take a look at the Wolf Eyes/Copia line. Not the most refined line of lights, but they're pretty cheap, very bright, and they use rechargable lithium cells.

The rechargable cells is a great feature. You don't feel guilty using your light as a work light.

cool, thanks!
I did a search on WGC, and they have a pretty nice selection, however a lot of them do not have pressure switches. How are these flashlights switched on while mounted on the gun? (i.e. the m3 tac-illuminator?)
I found some SureFire's, but it said they were for fitting into the MP5 foregrips...
Would I still be able to mount a 6P? and what size mounting ring would I need to do this?

p.s. I'm also looking for something small, that is aesthetically minimal in physical presence.

I'd recommend SureFires, because I like them; however, they do cost quite a lot more, especially when compared to the replicas. Like most things, you get what you pay for--when you compare a well-made light like any SureFire or BlackHawk, and then look at a knock-off, you'll see quite a big # of differences.

Anyhow, you mentioned a P90--the tricky thing with a P90 is that the location of the rail (on the P90 TR version) means that a remote pressure switch would snake down and be velcored on or around the thumbhole stock--this means that you may have a wire that is running around your detachable mag. So I'd actually suggest that you just use a regular thumb switch in this case.

For normal lights, they switch on usually via a twist action or a button press, or a combination of both. For some pistol lights, they have a toggle switch. If you want a simple and relatively inexpensive route, pick up any light with a 1-inch diameter and then mount it via either a scope ring or a flashlight ring mount.

There are a ton of differen types of lights, and they all have different uses and functions. Yes, I know this sounds a little silly, but it's true. Well, for me, I have a number of lights for different situations. :)

The StreamLights and the Wolf Eyes mentioned are fine, too.

Surefire alll the way!!!
Just got my Surefire G2 to get a taste of it... yummm... It's so bright
I'm going to order one of the Special Ops light for my M14 now

I also got the G&G M3 tac light, and the G&G GP6 II flashlight, pretty nice as well. Very bright.

Are the thumb switches relatively as easy to operate as pressure switches while in combat/action?

I just got my G2 too and wow this thing is awesome. When you look at the size of it compared to the brightness, it's just insane.

|2enegade October 24th, 2005 03:37

would you say the G2 is better than the 6P?

For the money, go with a G2. The only thing I can think of getting a 6P is its LED conversion capability. The G2 is bright, light and very strong. You will be surprised how much light you can get for the money you pay. Oh yeah, and it comes with pretty colour too :D
