Help on upgrading TM G36c
 

I just bought a TM G36c and I am looking to upgrade it.

I have no experience with internal modifications on AEG's, although I am pretty electrical/DIY literal.

Here is what I want done to the gun:

Make it as SILENT as possible (but please warn me if it sacrifices fps/accuracy or durability.)
- I was thinking the Systema Silent Head Set for Gearbox Ver. 3
- Then wrapping the gearbox in some sort of tape? what kind?
- anything else?

Get a NICE battery
-Probably going to go for an 8.4v mini.
-I might get the enlarged handguard... but its expensive and mini batteries can get almost as much juice as a large.
-So, what battery and where?

Get a Really good Charger/Discharger (about $50-100$)


Improve FPS and Durability
-I want it around 375 fps.
-And just as good durability (2+ years of life)


I hope this is detailed enough so you get the picture. I will probably get the stuff from wgcshop, or onlybatterypacks.com for the battery. Maybe evike if they have everything I am looking for.

You probably wont like the answer, but here goes...

Dont touch that gun, dont open it, dont mod it unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing AND you've done it before.
Dont upgrade until you've played at least a good season. After that, you'll know from experience if you need to do anything.

Upgrades can easily add a good $300 or more to the price of your gun.

A 'stock' gun lasts for years. Just get a couple of batteries and an excellent charger. The rest can wait.

Your gonna want
M120 or PDI 150% to 170% spring
Bushings
gears(durability)
tightbore

your not gonna be able to wrap the mechbox in tape, not much room in there and it wont do much. Keeping your gun lubed is the best thing to do.

battery, 8.4 is good, but if you can fit a large battery in, your gonna be much better off. The mini batterys dont have much juice and are noticably weaker when compared to large batterys.

WGC is the way to go.

as for doing the upgrading, a local gun doc is a good way to go.

read the guides through and if you think you can do it, go for it....its not as difficult as some make it sound. Just take it apart, and make sure you put everything back the way it came off.

Play a bit stock, but really, a gun that shoots 100 feet blows, so double it and have fun.

If you can live with a lower FPS, like 325, you'll find that silent headsets do a whole lot more than at higher powers.

I'm beginning to agree with greylocks, for now at least.

What charger am I going to want?
And what battery?

I think I will get the enlarged handguard to fit a large type.

You probably should've just bought a CA36C instead if you were looking for higher FPS. 320 stock which while isn't as high as you wanted would've nevertheless been better than having to upgrade your TM right out of the box.

If you really want to rice your gun, start small. You can put a TN barrel (same length as stock barrel) without opening the horror that is the gear box, though you'd still have mess with parts like the hopup. You should get a little more fps and slightly better accuracy from that, though far from the high 300s. Bigger battery is probably your safest upgrade path, since it requires no real technical work and you can make up for low fps and accuracy to a certain extent with volume of fire. A large foregrip or a battery sling with a 8.4v around 2000mah (NiCd, high mah if NiMH) should be enough.

Any answers to this one?...
(NiCD mini > NiMH mini? good chargers? battery brand? etc...)
p.s. I just saw an 8.4v 1200mAH mini on WGC... any good?

pick up a silencer. my tm g36 is reasonably quiet with a silencer in semi, but in full auto it doesn't do that well (which is a bit odd because my mp5k pdw with the same silencer is dead silent in full auto with the same gearbox. just different acoustic properties i guess).

i use a 9.6v 1100mah nimh. it fits with no problem and i get about 2000 rds. in summer weather. goes to hell in winter and basically won't deliver any useable current in cold weather. ni-cad would be better but i haven't seen any retailer sell ni-cads in the mini size yet that have a decent mah rating. you could always built one yourself if you are electrically savvy and have access to cells and connector.

Okayyy, if you need to ask those questions, then you truly need to get some experience first. Go to a game where you live and see what folks use.
You're not in Canada, so we cant recommend anything more than that.

Not trying to offend you, but this is like asking what kind of gas you put in your new car. You Must do some research in person. Local players will help you and even show you.

well, I dont think he needs to visit a game to find out what BATTERY to use.

as for a discharger, this is where softair BBs come in handy

Well I knew what KIND of battery to get, I was just wondering if there were specific brands/models that are better than others with different discharge rates, etc. And there are not airsoft fields where I live, just private get-togethers.

Sanyo 'large' battery, or custom battery that would fit in your gun. 8.4 volts, as much MAH as you can manage to get and fit in your gun's battery holder.

You can get a larger battery holder, or two batteries for now. Charger... find a decent computerized model with an LCD display screen. They are easy to use and pretty much foolproof. That should be around $100 US, give or take.

Internals; metal bushings, a spring of the power already suggested (but I'd avoid the M120). You're looking at about $30 total.

If you've never opened a mechbox, please read ALL the manuals and instructions that you can find before you try.

That's about it unless you have an upgrade expert handy.

That'll be the Sanyo NiMh 8.4V 1100mAh battery.

If you want LiPo, that's another whole can of worms.

Actually, since Jeegro is electrical/DIY literal, he might benefit from using LiPo.
