KJW KP06 magazine help

So I'm doing a quick post before I go to work, but I'm finding that one of the green gas mags hasn't been working properly. Yes I've filled them properly, everything is lubed up and the other 2 I have don't seem to have this problem.

What's been happening is, I'll get maybe one shot off but then the gun doesn't fire anymore like there's not enough gas to cycle but if I manually cycle the slide, it fires. But then doesn't fire again after. I've tried the other 2 mags and they don't do this.

One thing I noticed is the release valve (the one on the side of the mag, not quite sure of the name) of the 1 mag is a few mm more out than the other 2. But other than that I don't know what is the cause. I've done some fixes to deal with leaking and all but nothing seems to have had an effect. Also, the one mag not working has a glossy finish to it while the other 2 have a matte finish so it's easy to tell the difference.

I will post some pictures and even some video for what's going on later tonight but I just wanted to post now so I get some ideas

Bump

The problem has since gotten worse after changing the fill valve. Now I can barely get a shot or 2 out as the hammer just comes down but no sign of gas being released. I've played around with the release valve and how tight it is to give the valve some height and it hasn't really made a difference. Gas is being properly filled, seeing as how I have to expel quite a lot before working on the magazines. I've played with the tension of the hammer springs and leaf-spring and it's had an effect on the recoil in the other magazines but not so much solving this problem

As like before, the other 2 magazines are just fine. Really don't want to have to get another magazine if I can figure out what's wrong with this one. Debating on getting another release valve to see if that was the problem. I'll add the video to this post as soon as it's done uploading

Here's a quick video. It should still be processing

I have a simalar problem mine will fire on co2, but on green gas mags the hammer goes down and no gas is released (The mags are full filled the correct way and correct amount of time) If anyone out there has any idea help is needed, Also we exchanged the mags for new ones and the new ones do the exact same thing.

Bump

I have since noticed that playing with the sear spring helps it but I'm not entirely sure which prong to be moving around and in which direction. I know the one on the left (if you're looking directly at it from the back isn't gonna affect much, so either the middle or left one) If someone could help me (like what pushing the middle prong forward or backwards does) then I may be better at figuring out what's wrong

Tried it with bb's and it shoots one fine, then the second shot is kinda a letdown and the bb just kinda rolls out so I'm still playing around with the sear spring but nothing seems to work. I'll buy another spring to see if that works but I wanna avoid it for now

This is still a problem and I'm starting to think it's the leaf spring. Does anyone know if any hi-capa leaf spring is compatible in the KP06? I'm really trying to avoid bringing this to someone as I don't think this is a big thing to fix. Please help!

If it's just 1 mag being troublesome, it might be more economical to use it as a parts mag and just replace it... at some point investing so much time into such a stubborn thing becomes frustrating, or a waste of precious time that could be spent on more constructive things.

How much is your time worth to you? If I can't solve a mag issue in 2-3 hours, I buy a new mag. How much money and time have you spent on playing with springs and valves now? I value my time at base, 20$/hour. I have all of 2, maybe 3 nights per week tops to work on gun related stuff. I can't waste that time messing around with 1 fussy mag. :P

Have you tried swapping the release valve from a working mag? That would put one of your other working mags at risk of not coming back together properly due to some voodoo curse of the airsoft gods. But it could be worth a try. If 2 out of 3 work in the gun, you don't question the gun unless you're hideously unlucky and the 2 working ones are the bad ones.

p0nch3 July 15th, 2014 23:42

That's the thing. The 3 mags all worked fine before. But then one day they stopped working. I already replaced the release valve and moved them around. At this point they work whenever they feel like it.

What baffles me is how it was the 2 working fine, then I play with the leaf spring then the 1 that doesn't work, works and the 2 that did don't anymore. Change back the leaf spring and then they swap again.

I don't touch this gun too often so the first thing I do is lube the mags. They work, then stop after a while. I bought 2 new mags from Airsoft Gear so I'll see how that works out.
So far that's the most I've spent on it. The time it takes me to play with the leaf spring is negligible to me seeing and the new recoil and hammer spring I bought were after the problems started. This was one of my first pistols and I really love it so I don't mind putting the time in

how's the wear on the mag catch in the gun and the slot on the mags? maybe the mags aren't all sitting in the right spot in relation to the knocker?

p0nch3 July 16th, 2014 10:29

The slots on the mags aren't worn out too much. They're fairly new so there's not much there. The mag catch is a little worn though. Pushing the mag up from the bottom pretty much fixes the problem. Should I just replace the catch to see if it fixes it?

lurkingknight July 17th, 2014 13:36

could be a good start rather than messing with springs.

p0nch3 August 28th, 2014 08:26

So I finally got around to changing the mag release and it's still having the same problem. For some reason the green gas mags aren't seating high enough in the well. I don't know what to try next

lurkingknight August 28th, 2014 09:33

JB weld and grind a new slot for the latch to lock into? :P

btw, have you tried the mags in other kjw 226s?

Styrak August 28th, 2014 13:28

lurking, KP06 is a Hicapa...

If you're still having issues maybe you should take it to someone who has experience with Hicapas.

DERP.
