Question: KJW KP-07 MEU vs. Hi-Capa KP-05 vs. KP-08

I'm trying to decide on the next airsoft practice pistol, strictly for target shooting. I'm looking at CO2 variants only, to maximize felt recoil.

Is KP-07 considerably 'slimmer' than KP-05 and KP-08?

Is KP-08 really 'full metal' as some ads say? Looking at pictures, the frame looks plastic.

Those who had owned both KP-05 and KP-08, which one would you prefer?

I suspect the grip size and trigger reach on my CZ Shadow are somewhere between those of KP-07 and KP-05/08. I do own a couple of single-stack 1911s, and they feel kind of 'skinny' in my smallish hands. OTOH, my shooting buddy's 2011 STI is too fat for me.

TIA.

Hicapas have a much higher gas (propane) capacity than 1911's. However you said you're using CO2 so it will be pretty much the same.
If you're only using CO2 then it's personal preference. But if using propane and/or gaming with it, I would go for a Hicapa, not a 1911.

If an STI 2011 feels too big for you, then you probably wouldn't like a Hicapa since it's based on the 2011.

Thanks,

No gaming, just training for IPSC, so CO2 for sure. I'll probably get a KJW MEU KP-07, replace the front sight with fiber optic, put on an adjustable rear, and see what happens.

I assume KP-07 is (somewhat) compatible with TM 1911 so spare parts are available.

My vote goes to the KP 08,

Go for the KP07 with the new much more reliable CO2 magazines with small bumpers (not the bigger old ones).

The KP07 is almost 100% TM compatible (and you can get cheap spares directly from KJW by email & Paypal) Put inside a PDI or Edgi barrel and a RH55 rubber and the precision and recoil will amaze you.

The KP07 it's not a "fit and finish" pretty 1911, but it's probably the best bang for the buck in airsoft pistols IMHO.

Thank you all for the info. Prettiness, trademarks etc. are not part of my decision-making, I only care about accuracy, reliability, and the grip fit / trigger reach being similar to my Shadow, since I do draw the gun from my Production holster. I have a couple of RS 1911s, and they are a tad too slim for me. But a 2011 just may be too wide.

Could someone please do me a favor? If you have a KP-05 and/or KP-07 and a caliper, would you be so kind to measure:
1. Grip width at the trigger level?
2. Distance between depressed grip safety and the trigger?

I know it would be best to fondle the real gun, but I don't have that option.

Thanks.

What about a KJW KP-09 comes in both GG and CO2

KP-09 is a replica of CZ 75, I already have a KWA KZ-75. Ergonomically, these are very different from the Shadow.

Oh ok, well just a quick look around ASG has a CZ P-09, and a SP-01

Non-blowback :(

The CZ P-09 says its blow back, but ya I just say the SP-01 is NBB which is lame lol

KP-07 can run GG and CO2. I've owned the WE MEU (same type of 1911 as KP-07) and sold it to buy the KP-07. I've since picked up a second KP-07.

Definitely go for the new model CO2 mags if you're going to run CO2 as your main propellant. Better seals, lighter weight and lower profile.

Fantastic gun

I had the Les Baer 1911, better deal since you get both a CO2 and a GG mag plus fancy grips, plus I love me my trade marks lol

I have the 07 the grips are nice and thin compared to the highcapa (08 and,05) and on c02 the things kick like a mule. personally I would say go for the 07 as for ipsc it has a nice weight to it and on c02 would be a great training weapon. Plus being 99.9% TM compatible the amount of upgrades you can put on the thing well the skys the limt basicly. One thing to note on green gas the 07 will not preform as well as it does with co2 (due to the slim mags) the highcapa (05 and 08) have bigger mags so they hold more green gas if your running that. but on c02 stock they all preform the same.

Best of luck!

I have a 07 and when I get a chance tomorrow I can take a mesurement for ya.
