Need a wire from radio to PTT, unique model or common?

Hi!

I own a throat mic and this wire is really the weak part of the set, already broke twice, when you unplug the wire from the PTT button, some of the wires just break inside the plug! Is this a standard kind of wire or is it unique in it's crappyness?

I know some people will tell me to buy an other comm set instead, but sincerely, if it was not from that wire breaking all the time, I would be really pleased with that set, sound is clear and all the rest is reliable.

Well, you said it.

Just buy a good quality cable.

The that 2-pin plug is the "Kenwood" standard. Should be easy to find.

Go to a cable making company and have them make you a good quality cable. Bit expensive but you will like the product.

Or just but a real one instead of a cheap clone!

I know it's not a hi quality product, but sincerely, with the exception of that particular part, the rest is really good! People hear me well when I use the throat mic or the in-ear bone mic. The wires on the part with the 5 holes (see here for a picture of that end: http://french.alibaba.com/product-gs...552672938.html ) seems to have fires a bit too short and they break when you unplug the wire from the ptt, a kind of design flaw.

I'll check for that idea of rebuilding the wire in question. I also wrote to the supplier to see if they have better quality wires in stock. If not, I'll go for a higher end throat mic.

What exactly is "breaking"?

Even crappy 36ga wire shouldn't physically "break" that easily... I'd say there's a higher likelihood the culprit is piss poor soldering on the connectors. Dunno on which end (probably the 5-pin barrel though). Dunno if you can open that and check, maybe do a proper soldering job.

I was implying to replace the defective wire with a real one instead of the poorly made clone one. If the throat mic works good enough for you, don't replace what isn't broke.
