AEG troubles. Shoots only couple feet.

so i broke my airsoft M16 shitty panther carbine from wallmart thought id try to fix er.it only shoots a few feet every 30 rounds or so i get a good shot. i opened the gun up and upon inspection of the piston the rubber ring was a little bent out of shape.is this the cause? any other ideas?
ps the frame is a little cracked, need to do a few repairs with jb weld or something, and also the handle screws that keep the motor in is broken, so i have to hold the motor in while i fire.

heres a video showing it

In all seriousness; it's not worth the time to repair. It's time to go on to bigger and better things.

I left a comment on your video on how to free your gearbox from the receiver, but other options for airsoft are out there.

Get AV'd and get a decent rifle, something that's actually worth the time investment on repairs and upgrades.

thankyou! i did upgrade, now im doing this as a hobby. good with my hands.i got an almost full metal ak47 specnaz for 200, kinda wanna sell it and buy something alot more high end haha

also another question, my high end gun came with a 8.4 v battery, will a 7.2 work with the gun aswell without doing any damage?

GBBR June 10th, 2013 02:53

What us your high-end gun

BennyBoy June 10th, 2013 05:57

Looks like your motor is your problem, it's not being held in anymore..

Hectic June 10th, 2013 09:15

Why would you wanna downgrade the battery?
If the 7.2 has enogh power to pull the spring then its fine but itll have a lower rate of fire and slower trigger response.

I think he mean 8.4 nicad or nimh compared to a 7.4 lipo

My Mid- high end gun is a full metal Ak47 kalashnikov spetsnaz. it was only 200 but i wanna sell it too and buy a 400-500 gun

gostskull June 13th, 2013 20:27

@BennyBoy
motor is not the problem. i can hold it in and it will work. i think the problem lies in the piston

gostskull June 13th, 2013 20:29

i dont wanna downgrade battery, i just have a battery for the shitty panther carbine that i want to see if i can use with the high end full metal airsoft gun as a spare. batteries are 7.2 NI-CD 1500 MAH and 8.4 ni-Mh 1100 MAH

8.4 will work, 7.2 is going to be extremely slow

gostskull June 13th, 2013 20:49

so it will go slow but just to be clear it wont cause any damage internally? like a short or shooting the motor?

ThunderCactus June 13th, 2013 21:07

might wear a bit more on the motor, and your batteries aren't going to last more than 400 rounds or so, assuming it even turns the mechbox over. And I'm pretty sure it won't be able to cycle the mechbox if the piston ends up half way back after full auto.
Everyone here runs a 9.6 mini on a stock gun. Don't worry about it breaking, cause it's gonna break no matter what you do.
Don't dry fire, don't keep firing when there's a BB jammed in the barrel, don't keep pulling the trigger when there's something obvious wrong with the mechbox, and don't fire full auto in long bursts. That'll minimize the chances of you breaking the gun
