GBB Slide locking question

New to Airsoft (just got into it since I've joined). Today when I was showing my Wife how to use a few of my Pistols I noticed that when I put some gas in the mag and load it into the weapon and rack the slide, I can only shoot once before the slide locks back in the empty mag position. My question is, obviously because there's no BB's in the mag it's technically it's empty, but I remember on numerous occasions when at TA buying them the clerk would dry fire it several times (without ammo) to assure me it's in working order. Yet when I try this myself I get one shot, slide lock?

Maybe I'm using too little gas? I wanted my Wife to dry fire the new Glock to see if she'd be happy with the recoil etc. but I only used a few quick seconds of gas, just wondering if that's the issue. I'd check myself right now but I'm not at home and this has been bugging me all day! lol Thanks guys.

When you grip thd pistol with 2 hands use the thumb of your left hand (off hand) to hold the slide lock down and fire away if you left handed itll be a lil akward to dothis but that is the key. Hold down the slide lock and youll be able to dry fire till all the gas is gone.

Id say there are no stupid questions only stupid answers, but ive seen some dumb shit on theese boards lol.
Dont worrie your question was valid lol

AH! They always hold it so the right side of the weapon is facing me so I never noticed they were doing that! lol That explains it and I don't feel quite as stupid now. haha

Note that it ain't that good for the pistol to dry fire though

There is dry firing; one quick pop once in a while.

Then there is dry firing; sitting on a couch with your pistol, watching Blackhawk Down and joining in all the fire fights.

The second one is what you want to avoid.

Exactly, I'm only doing the former and only a few shots. My Wife was curious how it kicked.
