mesh eye protection

hello asc i was looking into getting a ballistic face mask like this http://www.airsoftpark.com/product_i...oducts_id=2970 . and i was wondering if there were any ways to make them legal (I don't know if that is the term) to use on more fields because most fields around my area say no mesh. Would i be able to throw a pair of shooting glasses underneath ?

i would say, replace the mesh with custom ballistic lenses

godmode108 September 8th, 2012 13:32

you cut it out and glue ballistic lenses to it, saying that the lenses could fit in the first place...

Except it still wouldn't be ballistic (Z87) rated.

Dont bother getting a cheap mask like this.

This thing is supposed to "protect" your full face and eyes, and its on 42 dollars....hmmm.

PLus the fact that a few friends of mine bought similar masks and when we fired at them with stock guns the lense pieces poped out easily and the mask started chipping apart. Not something you would want to put your trust in.

If you absolutely must have a mask like this (great for cqb!) check out my review of a quality full face mask that you can get from the Philippines custom made for you. I run it all the time and ive been shot in the eyes quite a few times...and still not a single scratch or scare!

i use mesh googles and there fine . You can get good mesh for 20 bones and a mesh face sheild for the same price. My wife found the full face sheild in my profile pic at the 400 flea market for 30 bones and it works great also.

redzaku September 8th, 2012 17:39

despite of what i said, i have to agree that these mask will not protect you enough, a surplus riot helmet has more protection then the mask you wanted to buy. Onimaru mask are the best type due to the fact they use metal or hard polymer plastic, which if one ask to be built with.

Akinno September 8th, 2012 17:57

I recommend checking out Onimaru as well.

Some fogging with the mask, but your face will be protected. Some of those cheap mesh masks look good, but are made out of clay parts and break as soon as you shoot them.

Works good until you get a BB that shatters and goes into your eyes.

Keep in mind altering safety gear such as eye protection is generally a bad Idea. If you choose to do so make sure you submit it to vigorous testing before using it out in the field.

FoxhoundNB September 8th, 2012 18:53

While I don't personally endorse them, We've subjected several mesh goggles to some pretty serious testing over here and we've had nothing resembling a failure.

They're your eyes. You get two of them and if you are not careful you can loose them quite easily. If you are adamant about using the mask, take out the mesh entirely and utilize either full seal goggles or (if the field allows) shooting glasses.

Don't be "that guy who lost had his eye shot out using a China mask."

Brian McIlmoyle September 8th, 2012 20:39

Mesh.. Upside, no fog, downside can not use them in low light, as light dims your eyes naturally focus on the mesh rendering you effectively blind.

Face masks, upside, full face protection, downside, poor peripheral vision

Best .. Low profile themal ballistic goggles, and mesh face protection.

Go for " works" before you go for " looks cool " looking cool walking to the spawn dont mean shit
