Best de-fogging techniques

Was wondering the best de-fogging stuff for goggles, besides the obvious fan.

A fan.

two fans.

Maybe a thermal lens.

It really depends on the player though, if you never break a sweat even when sprinting or under stress then maybe you're OK.

If you're wearing 40+ lbs of gear in the hot sun in sweaty Ontario you may find you need a fan.

I'm in the drier part of B.C. but I use Fogtech and a fan so I can actually see what's going on.

Good air flow

Brett-18 August 15th, 2011 00:52

Well i'm using flak goggles with flow vents and they were great at first but it seems they fog all the time now. Does anyone recommend a cream?

Kishimaru August 15th, 2011 01:03

have you try anti-fog?

Brett-18 August 15th, 2011 01:05

That's kinda along the lines of my question what is the best brand? As i have used one before for a hockey visor and it made no difference.

HKGhost August 15th, 2011 01:06

Cheap method is dish soap. Wipe on, let dry then polish it up.

Is this legit or will this destroy my goggles? Even if i have to do it before every game does it work?

HKGhost August 15th, 2011 01:26

Yes it works. You can do it the day before your game.

Google?

Spit and soap are your cheapest options. Most companies that sell goggles sell anti fox with them.

Also a fast search for "antifog" (first page):

There is also ESS, Revision, Cat Crap, any ski company makes them.
Just have to actually go out and look. Try what works for you.

Personally the fog tech does nothing for me. Where as the revision stuff works great for my ESS goggles.

I use thermal lenses and "Fog-Tech". Works every time. At worst, in a sweaty mess, it beads and doesn't fog. I use a windex-style cleaner, and clean the inside lens, then use fogtech and coat the inside lens. Works for me.... Non-thermal lenses don't work for me using this method.
