Prescription balistic glasses
 

I currently wear these googles, which are fine.

They fit perfectly with the glasses I have.

Now, I can`t get laser surgery, and I can`t get myself to wear contact lense, and I would like to invest in prescription balistic glasses that are safe for airsoft play, either outside or CQB.

Can you recommend any? I see Bollé X1000, which allow prescription lenses, but I have no idea how much they cost in Canada.

I'd also consider non-goggle-type glasses (just like policemen, etc). But I have no idea where to look for those.

Any help would be appreciated (and I did google quite a bit).

Talk to your local eyeglass place and ask how much it would be for Prescription saftey glasses

These accept an Rx insert. i purchased them and got my optometrist to produce the lenses and they work well. Depending on you Rx it might take a bit of getting used to but they seem good to me.

How much was it for the Rx lenses?

Rx Lenses are completely dependant on how common or rare your Rx is. If you know your Rx and it's common you can get lenses for dirt cheap from some websites. Hell even buying them in person isn't that much sometimes.

They stock the Revision glasses and goggles and inserts, also they can make the lenses for the insert.

I just picked up the Sawfly and they are fantastic glasses, though I don't need the prescription insert it's nice to know they have the capability.

I like that insert module, it seems very conveniant.

However, I`m worried that the Sawfly won't cover the eyes completely in the case of airsoft. Not sure.

Also, my local eyeglass stores mainly have machine operators safety glass. Z87.1 at most, and odd colours as well. Not the style I`m looking for.

The Sawfly has very good coverage of the entire eye and peripherals, it wraps around the side of your face. They are designed for the military and they exceed the Z87.1 specification so it's definitely sufficient for airsoft use.

They do have other styles available that are enclosed such as the Bullet Ant and Desert Locust and those both accept the same prescription insert. I highly recommend Revision products as they have saved my eyes many times!

I also work in IT, for a company that has a production line. We are required to have Z87.1 glasses when on the production floor, so the Sawfly would also be a good use there. And, I might add, not too bad to driving, I suppose.

~~Really tempted~~ I just need to figure out all the bits and pieces they ask for the Rx itself. Globe spherical thingies and all.

ESS and Revisions are the best Ive used for Rx stuff.

My Rx is F'd and I think it was around $150 for the insert lenses. As I have such an F'd astigmatism changes from one pair of glasses to another is not pleasant so every time I use them it takes 1/2 a day to get used to them. Also, the strap keeps these glasses quite close to the face so there is not a lot of room around for penetration but with all glasses, there is some change. I wear a Pretorian mask on top anyhow to save my dental bill and my ugly mug so not too much of a concern but something to consider.

Oh...for the record these guys all charge wayyyy too much money for these things but these seem in that pack...overpriced but in the pack anyhow.

I picked up the essential kit with the clear and smoke lenses and I use them for driving currently as they wrap around and block the sun from pretty much any angle, I would like polarized glasses for driving but the Oakley's I want have a hefty price tag...

For CQB use and fields that require full-seal paintball goggles, I wear JT spectra flex 8's over my glasses.

For outdoors at private fields I bought ESS ICE glasses (clear, amber and smoke w/ 2 sets of frames) and the Rx inserts from Optics Planet, then had the lenses made for me by my optometrist. But you could also have opticsplanet make them (possibly cheaper).

Don't forget a bottle of fogtech, then you'll be all set. :)

How am I still risking my eyes?

Outdoors I use the strap to secure it to my head.

Indoors I wear a mesh mask that covers my whole face and I wear the glasses with the strap...

I really like the glasses primarily because they are low profile.
