AK Semi not working - shot, wind, wind, click, click, click...

After switching from full auto, on semi it will shoot one shot, then the next two shots will be some gearbox noise, and from then on all I can hear is the trigger clicking.

What should I be looking for?

A bigger/more powerful/charged battery?

Kid August 26th, 2010 02:35

It's already running a 9.6v 2200mah. The battery is fine.

I'm going to have to take it apart again. Semi was working before I put it together (but I didn't test auto until I put it together, so that might have thrown it off).

This gun is horrible. It's a CYMA frankengun.

Is all your selector related parts CM?
Receiver/Gearbox selector gears, drum, selector arm)

I know when I ran Cyma gearbox, Dboys selector gears, CM drum and CM selector arm the problem was Dboys parts.
It would end up giving me semi and no FA, or vice versa, or half of one and none the other just depending how I played with it.

They're properly lined up - but it's highly likely that the selector parts didn't come with the current gearbox or the frame.

Still, I don't see how that could be an issue. In the semi position it IS getting power, and it's not shooting auto, so I don't think the problem is electrical.

Maybe the gear is prematurely tripping the cutoff lever?

I'm going to take it apart right now before I further speculate.

Kid August 26th, 2010 03:35

I took it apart and shot it on semi again. It works sometimes, and other times the piston gets stuck at the very back and the motor tries to wind it again but fails. Sometimes it will just make a clicking noise. Sometimes it will get stuck near the front. Usually it gets stuck at the back.

Going back out... will update this post with more information if it becomes available.

Try a different battery.
It's either that or your shimming job.
Or.....something else. :p

Seems like I fixed the semi auto issue (3:20AM). I swapped the bearing spring guide out with a stock one.

Since I got this gun, I've discovered the following problems.
- Battery is too long (last time I tried to force it and the Deans connector in, one of the wires broke off the battery. There's about 1CM of space. Will probably end up removing a cell.)
- Muzzle had either a paintball or gum in it. The inside of the gun was full of what appeared to be food or other organic material stuck in every possible place.
- Front sight wasn't straight and the handguards were loose.
- Fake bolt gets stuck and the spring isn't strong enough to push it forward.
- Trigger connections were both corroded and covered in grease.
- Vents on piston head were full of grease.
- SCS was installed without removing the nub on the rubber.
- Motor cage is severely loose (not matched to the gearbox)
- 3 missing screws.
- Selector nub worn out (#1 reason it wouldn't fire on semi)
- Current issue (#2 reason it wouldn't fire on semi)
- Nozzle was the wrong type (so it only shot about 10-15 feet). http://www.airsoftcanada.com/images/..._hammerhit.gif
- 6.03 tightbore poorly chopped to length and has jagged ends. (have not had a chance to test accuracy yet)
- Wiring is worn out in several places (attempts to repair had been done unsuccessfully with both electrical and hockey tape)
- Wiring is nearly broken at several connections and on the battery.

And I don't know how well it has been shimmed - shimming is not something I'm very knowledgeable at.

I bought this from a guy that claims to be a gun doctor... all I knew when I got it was that it didn't fire on semi auto and that he didn't know why.

Seems like a lot of issues , hope you got it at a good price.

question I have and I am sure others will have is who was the person that sold it to you (so that same doesn't happen to us)?

Styrak August 26th, 2010 07:37

Who/where the hell did you get that gun from?!?!!?
Anyway, sounds like it would be easier to throw it in the trash and buy something else...

Kid August 26th, 2010 15:07

...just avoid getting a gun that has been repaired/built by a guy with this under his name.

Yup.

BTW, it is firing fine in semi and auto now. It won't fire straight with the muzzle on, so I'll have to look at that and maybe grind out whatever is catching the BBs.

Once in a while a BB goes really weird too, even without the muzzle... probably because of the chop job done on the barrel. When I first saw the barrel, I just said to myself, "WHY?!")

Nooblord.
Should have figured...

Why did you not return the gun and get your money back, or at least leave negative feedback?

buahahahahah!!! seriously that guy has multiple threads against his craftmanship, especially the most recent when he and Amos went at it and TNL claimed he's made "some of the best gun's you'll ever see"
