Going to be an airsoft gun

At around 7 o clock i will be purchasing my first AEG. I already know what it is. I am having some doubts about buying so can you guys convince me why I should get an AEG? Win me over to the airsoft community:)

AngelusNex August 3rd, 2012 15:57

Cause you want one ?

HackD August 3rd, 2012 16:03

If you are having doubts, then don't buy one. Only buy if and when you are sure that it is a 'good purchase' for you. What we think, is entirely irrelevant.

Scotcho1.0 August 3rd, 2012 16:12

Go buy yourself a cheap crappy tire aeg, play with it, shoot some boxes....ten if you feel like you want more, buy a real aeg.that's what I did any way..no buyers remorse

+1 for that.

This sport is all about what you like and what feels right to you. The feelings and advise from people here while helpful means nothing at the end of the day if the gun you end up getting dosent feel right to you.

My advise is to try a few different types of guns and judge from there.

As far as AEG vs GBB goes. That depends on how and when you play. GBB are great fun but there shit in the winter. AEG works well all year round but you have to deal with electrical issues. Six in one a half dozen in the other.

Bottom line. How and when you play will be a big factor in which gun you pick.

Hope that helps.

What I am worried is that once I buy it, I will outgrow the game and then I will be stuck with a $250 AEG. Could I sell it on Kijiji or something if I do not like the gun, or is that illegal?

SuperCriollo August 3rd, 2012 16:30

yeah, Ive found aegs pretty easy to sell. I've sold over 15 in the past two years lol

Yes, you can resell the gun, in strict legal terms, to anyone over the age of 18, in any venue that will allow it's sale.

I thnk the bigger question that you need to ask, is if you are having doubts about $250.00, which is basically the rock-bottom pricing level as far as quality airsoft guns go in Canada, is are you going to be able to justify buying everything else related to Airsoft? Proper safety gear alone, is going to run you another couple hundred (gloves, boots, eye/face protection, hydration etc), game related gear (basic rig and BDU's) another couple hundred, things to make the rifle actually useful (batteries, magazines, magazine pouches, etc), ongoing maintenance of the rifle (ALL airsoft rifles have their bad mechanical days).. etc.

The airsoft rifle itself, is just the tip of the iceberg as far as airsoft expenses go. If you haven't the budget/haven't the stomach to stick with it from the get-go, don't bother.

Oh ya.

If you get AV'd things will be better.

I didnt wait till i was before i got my first gun. I am still kicking myself for it. It is worth the wait.

scottyfox August 3rd, 2012 16:40

Sigh, he's 14.

Styrak August 3rd, 2012 16:42

I've always wanted to be an airsoft gun.

The above bolded statement makes me snicker a bit, considering that general consensus is that this is an Adult hobby. A more accurate wording would be I will find that out this isn't like COD and get bored of the game.

If the media you consume really affected your mind, all of us oldsters would spend our days eating pills and running away from ghosts.

.....really. Really?

T-Hell August 3rd, 2012 17:34

Wait till 18

But minimum investment to play properly

Bdu, boots, eye prot, batteries, mags, gun case, chargers gloves, start at a grand and the sky is the limit after that a

5000+ is not uncommon Then maint on your gun , UPGRADES.

Can anyone see the bottom of the pit?

No.... Ok will keep falling. :)

redzaku August 3rd, 2012 17:55

well you are still shy of 18, regardless of maturity, just wait until 18, good stuff are still to come in the near future
by the way how are you going to become an airsoft gun? horrible spelling anyways, you still have 2 years to make up for and why are there two post on the same thing?

This is the part where red flags are raised.

AngelusNex August 3rd, 2012 18:17

Why did you remake the thread 13 minutes after you posted it ?

........................seriously?

RaisinBran August 3rd, 2012 18:26

I think what he really meant was that he was afraid that becoming an airsoft gun would make him violent and messed up in the head.
