Cup

Does anyone wear a cup to games? I am a n00b and I dont mind taking a hit anywhere except the 'nads...

Mitchell12 May 27th, 2009 22:44

I've known some people too do that, but honestly most pants will take a bb well enough unless your doing CQB. But hey better to be safe then sorry!

I'd recomend those new kind like I've got for hockey. It's like shorts with it in them as opposed to the ones with straps and such. Much comfier.

I got hit down there a few times with denim jeans on at mid-range. Wasn't bad at all. I wouldn't bother.

KND May 27th, 2009 22:51

I really don't care much. Wherever the BBs hit is fine but except my face and my pinky.

KND

Funny/sad story.

Not too too sure how it happend, but to sum it up I got a nice 2-3 round burst there, left a welt or 2. Stung a bit for a few mins but everything was/is okay.

I wouldn't bother, it's sorta luck of the draw. Most people try and him for the chest area or head if it's the only thing popping out.

I got shot in the nuts 5 times in a row in 2-3 games, some quite close.

Not my idea of a fun time, but not that bad either.

heres a poll i did when i started...

now id rather have gloves over a cup

DarkerWhite May 28th, 2009 04:16

I can see it only being uncomfortable to be wearing. I would say only if you really feel a real strong need for it.

I find a camelbak more comfortable.

Especially if you're putting the tube in your mouth to drink... :D

only when playing the terminator role. otherwise no.

AngelusNex May 28th, 2009 10:16

I'd only wearing a cup if playing some sort of zombie game. elsewise, your pants are protective enough... on the other hand, if you like to play naked, wear a cup.

Frozencricket May 28th, 2009 14:30

I'd also recommend wearing a stiff shirt and/or a vest for nipple shots. Never underestimate the amount of pain that can be incurred if you get shot in the nipple.

jameskersten May 28th, 2009 15:13

You're more likely to get a wack in the groin from a whipped stick then getting hit with a bb, atleast a bb that would actually hurt the pork and beans. I don't know anyone who wears one when they play and have never heard of anyone complaining about getting hit there either.

This is the special edition air soft cup. But again, only helpful if you are going the full monty! I see people gearing up sometimes like they are going into the Octagon. I would think a mouth guard would be more important than a cup, but remember, protect your nuts!!!

Or you could always use an IBA, IOTV or MTV with the dick flap attached.

But generally as long you aren't playing like a paintballer the odds of getting hit there are pretty low. I'd get good gloves and a mouthguard (combatives types) first.

ssp21 May 28th, 2009 19:10

a buddy of mine used to wear one all the time, untill he was hit in the groin at a milsim we were attending. the bb hit his zipper and i guess because there was no give due to the cup the bb shattered. he told me that later on he was in the bathroom pulling plastic shards out of the inside of his thighs and now he no longer wears a cup.

i've only been hit in the groin a few times and my BDU jacket is long enough that it wasnt really worse than getting hit anywhere else.

Oh man, When I read that, "pulling plastic shards out of the inside of his" and "thighs" were on different lines... I kinda buckled up and shivered at the thought.

Agreed. I've taken plenty more off the lips or ears over getting bagged in the nuts. Come to think of it, I can't recall ever taking a hit remotely close.

Again, the only reason I wear one is for Terminator roles where you can be deactivated with a 40mm grenade.
