Bought a set of RID3 Tactical Balls (http://www.brite-strike.com). They were mentioned on a post from a while ago. Figured they might be a reasonable alternative to flashbangs. Haven't field tested them yet. From testing them at home, used in the correct manner they may just give the home team a little advantage in CQB. They provide a bright white light that causes a strobing effect when rolled across a floor. They really do cause the eye to focus quickly on it. Can't wait to try out my new balls... :rolleyes:

Tactical Balls Video

To the naked eye, do you find that they provide enough lighting in a room when deployed?

They seem to provide enough light for distraction of the eye. the darker the room the more the strobing effect messes with you. If you're in a really dark environment they do actually seem to bring up the light level a bit, but I wouldn't rely on them illuminating an entire room. A taclight would still be better suited for that...

After seeing the video of your balls, I have seen the light. I want some balls to play with too...

I have some of these lovely buggers as well. They do work as a fairly decent distraction. However I wish they would strobe or flash instead of just stay on. However if you roll them properly you get the strobing affect. Great little product, came with its own holster to hold the balls.

Would it be safe to call this a ball sack?

You can get them in sets of 3 from brite strike. Yes I know theres 5 in the picture, no I did not buy 2 sets, I bought one set. My phone voice is just so sexy I make people forget how to count properly. Sorta wish they would have sent an extra pouch for the other 2. I will vouch that they are durable as all fuck though, you can whip the little buggers with a fair amount of force or even bounce them slightly and they absorb the shock and still keep glowin!

On a more serious note, are they metal balls? At our field, for insurance purposes, no one is allowed to throw or roll anything metal, unless they have taken local law enforcement-authorized flashbang training courses, and then all they are allowed to deploy are practice bangs. Metal balls?
