Steaming up goggles
the problem is this... after skirmishing for 20-30 minuites my goggles steam up. Is there any way of over coming this (sprays etc?)
i know some poeple use mesh masks... these are ok during the day but seriously hinder visibilty in low light....any ideas? |
Go to your local shop that sells glasses and they should have anti-fog spray, I used to use some on my hockey visor works great!
I also heard dish detergant works too. I havent tested this yet tho. |
A micro fan and a 9v do wonders.

Some of the better PB goggles have thermal lenses for less fogging.
|
nice one...memel arnt there any manufacturers that sell that sort of thing?
|
"Thermal" lens goggles are a great first step for fog control. The lens has what amounts to two layers to the lens, so there's a sealed air space in between that builds up warmth and cuts down on fogging on the inside layer. I say cuts down, but not eliminate, bucause a sweaty animal like myself can overcome even a good thermal lens. That's where the fans come into play. I've got a small CPU cooling fan attached to my ESS Striker goggles. If you want a pre-fab setup, search for ESS Turbocam goggles or JT Vortex fans for paintball goggles.
I've found goggle fog is a #1 game wrecker, so for me, the fan and thermal lens are a must. |

the paintball goggle fans suck, I've owned one, way over priced and made with really cheap parts and the fans are stupid loud so every one knows where you are, plus the fans don't pull all that much so dose not help with fogging. |
Have you considered getting mesh goggles? I adore mine
|
Thermal lenses have never let me down.

I got some neat ESS goggles from army issues. Military issue goggles offer superb ventilation, protection and comfort. Try searching around the web for ESS goggles, I'd recommend them any day.

Best I've tried and in Canada. No fogging at all... except some moisture droplets may appear and obscure vision somewhat and if you try to wipe them away you will rub off the coating and have a streak of fog where you rubbed. I've only tried it for one game (warm and sunny) so I will learn how to work with it but except for sticking my finger under my goggles to wipe a bead of water and causing the fog streak, there was absolutely no fogging. Promising. |
If they are ESS goggles, try removing the foam from around the vents on the top, sides, and bottoms. I did this to both my ESS strikers and profiles and have all but eliminated my fogging problem. (will only fog if I'm running with my helmet on for an extended period)

i use a bar of soap...use something like ivory(no odor)...just rub a dry bar of soap on the inside of your goggles then buff it out...just like waxing a car...it works like a charm...no water required...
|
I use Catcrap and it never fogs.
it dries out and doesn't stay on your fingers when you touch the lens either. once in a while I clean the old catcrap layer and put a new one... |
I can fog up my goggles just standing still and I have found Seadrops to be the best anti fog solution. You can pick it up at any good scuba shop for around 6 bucks.

Hmmm Dave, something just seems amiss to me here.

As for fog, good vent and anti-fog spray will beat out any fan. |
dracheous- for your info i got my first bb-gun -a 'springer-shotgun' back in '91/'92. i have always skirmished with my brothers and mates on private property -as opposed to a liscenced 'professional' bb site (which incedently are few and far between in the Highlands of Scotland...) -this is the first time i've had the opertunity to get feedback from 'proper'-skirmishers...i'm used to cleaning my goggles with tissue -thanks for the input anyway.
ps:are all Canadians as thorougth as you, or are you just an exception? |
Body wash=no fog. Enough said.
Works for me anyway. |
I've seen people modify the top rubber part by drilling holes into them that are smaller than 6MM.
|
spit...really spit
|
Buy Bolle T800. I sweat like a motherfucker and I can fog up safety glasses. I treat the Bolles with anti-fog (from a paintball shop) and I can go forever and sweat oceans with zero fogging. I've tried paintball goggle with fans, and nothing else works for me.
