Shoei MG42
Ok, like I promised during garrison night, heres pictures of my 42.
Thanks again to Jeff Baker for holding this for me for a month before I got enough to pay for it. http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...45801693_n.jpg http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...49561134_n.jpg Trades http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...87707631_n.jpg Pistol grip came with a small chip on the bottom left http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...83720698_n.jpg Stock http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...87943911_n.jpg Flash hider http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...38267720_n.jpg http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...19485637_n.jpg This is a size comparison vs a G36 with E length barrel plus a 2cm barrel extension with fully extended stock. http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...73856857_n.jpg dummy ammo, need more to fill up the rest of the links! http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...46879914_n.jpg Under the top cover http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...57260318_n.jpg Hopup adjustment http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...33966518_n.jpg The gun and the tank it runs on http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...86040284_n.jpg Down the irons http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...05976512_n.jpg If someone can tell me what this thing does... http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...28813364_n.jpg I put these red dots on the iron sights, would this be allowed? Since the Germans could of just got red paint. http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...34976213_n.jpg If the WWII airsofters have a table at TAC12, I would like to be there with this. Also, if anyone has any manuals/instructions on how to disassemble and maintain this thing, send it my way. |
Very Nice!
To answer your question. Thats the AA rear sight finger, if you'd ever put the anti-aircraft spider sights on the front. http://collectorebooks.com/jamesauct...e2/34589x1.jpg |
I see, that also answers what the hole towards to front of the barrel is for lol (to plug in the AA sight).
If anyone knows where to get a sling for the 42, please let me know. |

If you scroll down, you'll see a few. MilitaryTour is a great place. For some reason, I have trouble loading the page. That is one sexy beast! |
You can try asking militarytour.
I believe they have them |
Very very nice, might I ask whats the price tag on such a weapon? And does it replicate the real ones insane RPM?
|
Very nice.
Please do a review. Hopefully one on how it performs in the field. |
Yea, seems like I would have to contact them to buy it. I can load their website fine, but the page for the slings are showing error.
This was $2700 before taxes, free shipping. It does not have a high rate of fire, but I plan to have it modded to 1200RPM like the real one. Hoping to be able to make it out to the April game. Will have a review after that. |
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
|
Holy fuck that thing is huge. Let's mount it on my car. lol.
|
lmao you got a gun case this big? How will you take it back and work on it?
|
yea, I'm thinking about that right now. I guess we'll have to figure something out tomorrow. How much does it weigh? What did it come in by?
|
Custom gun case? I'm sure you can get a leather one custom made for sex appeal.
As for the RPM. If you get the real (or close to it) RPM I will pay to see it. I love the MG42. Such a reliable weapon and even today it would still boast effectiveness. |
Meh...just means a longer walk to go around it...
But seriously, nice effing piece of kit mate, very nice indeed. My first two cars cost considerably less than that. Together. |
Tom, the gun is 18lbs, if not more. Came in its own box, so if you got nothing else, take that. Also, you gotta take the air rig, so maybe another few lbs.
Cobalt Caliber, it should be ready for a WWII game in april. Come out to see it lol. I believe the rules are not tight about WWII uniform and weapons (probably can show up in flecktarn with an AK or something along those lines) Yorkie, you must of bought those two cars way back in the past lol. |
Hot damn!
|
Nice Mg42 - it is simply beautiful and the details on it are stunning.
Forgot the gun case, you will need a gun crate :) http://www.john-tom.com/ReplicaFirea...nsitChest6.jpg |

Sadly I won't be able to make a WW2 kit unless I can borrow. i'm gona finalize my modern kit this year and next spring/summer will be getting into WW2.
|
If you want to increase the ROF you need to be careful.
It's not as simple as swapping in a stronger recoil spring and cranking up the pressure. You'd need to have an overhaul done of the internals, I'm sure the shaft is steel on this (I hope) but you would probably want everything in steel and tested. I would have probably looked into such a project myself but $3000 on an Airsoft gun isn't practical for myself |
Quote:
I'll do a bit more research into that. So far, in all of the info I've come across, no one has suggested to replace the internals. Everyone just suggests putting in a stiffer spring or some sort of buffer to reduce the length of travel. |
the internal bits are mostly brass, and you're gonna want a rubber buffer between the bolt and the chamber(should have come with one on there) as brass slamming that hard won't last too long.

Brass is a soft metal, and I wouldn't want it to have hard contact with another peice if it were my gun. Think of it like a sorbo pad for an electric gun, I'm not sure if it's too thick to allow the gun to fire the bb's though.

So long as it stays, whatever you use to hold it on is the unimportant bit.
|
Did you get a fucked up feeling in your stomach when you handed over the cash like I did? lmao
|
lol Jeff offered me a payment plan that spanned over a month, it was bit by bit so the feeling wasnt that bad.

Lmao, how the fu*k would you hide an MG42????
|
It's a lamp stand I swear hun!

lmao, just make up a price, they wont know.
|
I just said cheaper then the house, truck, skidoos, and hockey stuff. She knows how to pick her battles. Still haven't told her I need to buy the gas rig yet though.
|
Hockey stuff? Yea thats understandable but not by much. I'm a goalie and my stuff only runs around $5500 total
|
Lack of other hobbies = more money for airsoft! lol
|
I never said I paid for that gear. I got it over my last 3 hockey season (you know the ones you've pretty much stopped growing in), so my parents paid for it.

Don't remind me. lol

If you dont have the air tanks yet, I suggest getting the Ninja HPA tanks. They can adjust output to 450PSI compared to other tanks that are like 700-800PSI. This is good since the palmers regulator can only go up to 200PSI anyways. They are available in 48cui 3000PSI for around $70-80
|
Cool thanks

As all of you other owners of Shoei MG42s probably already know by now, this thing fires damn slow. As in the RoF sucks. You can mod it yourself to fire faster, or you can buy a new Shoei MG42 "engine unit". Here is an email I got from Tomio Matsumoto from Shoei:
"Dear Friends, Thank you very much for your continued patronage. We contributed the newest video of "MG42 new engine unit" to "You Tube". We are glad if you enjoy it. You Tube: MG42 new engine unit.wmv - YouTube We are desperate and are manufacturing this MG42 now. And we also take into sale of this engine unit set for the owner of old MG42. The early reputation to this product is very good luckily. When you purchase this, please tell me about it at an early stage. Although we may keep you waiting, we sell this in order of reservation. Moreover, we have stock of some of MP43/1, MP43, and MKb42(H) model gun now. When you get interested in these, please contact me a little early before being sold out. I am looking forwarad to hearing from you soon. It apologizes for having become troublesome mail to those who are not interested in this. Thank you. Greetings from Japan.
