Skeleton Sidearms SS357 Magnum

I've been trying to find some more information about this pistol. Haven't seen many detailed reviews for it and was hoping to find if anyone might have some first hand experience with it?

Apparently the SS magnums are just WinGun rebrands.

so...does that mean its worth its money?
I was thinking about purchasing this gun too, but just couldn't find any reviews on it

Forever_kaos February 22nd, 2012 09:38

For a plinker, sure.
It may not last long though.

Shooting in the ~430's, as a sidearm, I doubt any readily available game would let these be used.

Thanks for the help, this gave me alot more to look at. It does shoot rather strong. but it's intend for outdoor games, I wouldn't dream of taking this thing indoors. Still got a little while before I make an order. So I'm going to look at a few other guns too now.

AEGs in most outdoor games are restricted to 400FPS..

this REVOLVER.. not pistol
is way too hot to be gamed.

A revolver is a type of action, which happens to be on a pistol in this case, bro.

EDIT: clarification.

would it be allowed if you use it far far away?
like the limit for sniper rifles...
though it would be useless as a pistol at that point...

Where could one get a 8" SS357? buyairsoft.ca is out of stock and replicaairguns.com doesn't have skeleton sidearms? Is there a 8" chrome equivalent of another brand?

I'll quote what Dynamo said on a similar request:

You mean this: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=53202? I don't understand what is wrong?

Nickaayyy February 28th, 2013 14:19

Maybe would be good to do a little bump of the rules, even the major parts of the new member won't read them.

Just maybe the part of giving an warning for non-airsoft related post I would change (if it was me, but i'm no boss here). If i'ts placed in the good places and not everywhere on the forum I dont see any harm. My opinion :)

It's against the rules to tell a non-AVed member where to buy guns.

Quote:

8) No posting of guns or 18+ items outside of specified areas
There will be no posting of guns or other 18+ items for sale or looking for in Signatures or other areas where you don't need to be age verified. Items are to be sold in their proper locations. Guns go in the gun section, gear in the gear section, NAR in the NAR section.... Failing to do this will get you a warning, particularly with selling guns.

Your not AV so they can't give you a link where to buy it. Same for me I can't ask for a link until i'm AV,

Andrew55 February 28th, 2013 14:23

SS and Dan Wesson among others rebrand this pistol.
WinGin is OEM
I do believe you can get shells/cartridges that lower the fps. They have a pin that restricts airflow.

I do own one and actually love it. Would never game it tho because of those damn fake bullets. Messing around with those things in the heat of battle is kind of a pain and are easily lost. If you're looking for a game pistol maybe have a look around?? If you just wanna plink pop cans and the like, I'd say get one. The double action is nice and reloads are fun with the simulated rounds. Spin the cylinder!!

Dreossk February 28th, 2013 14:28

Good, thanks Andrew! So yes I read that Skeleton and Dan Wesson are basically Winguns. When you say you own one you're talking about the SS, right? The Dan Wesson looks great but it's 6" max for a chrome. Their website is pretty crappy, do you know if they'll release a chrome 8"? Or is there any other 357 brands? I don't want to play, I just want to have one and maybe shoot at target in my house if the gun is not too loud.

Thenooblord February 28th, 2013 14:53

warning! don't chrony the 8" near any RCMP officerin a bad mood! mine shot 580 out of the box, ive detuned it now, but it was restricted if im not mistaken...

To be fair that doesn't actually say you can't post links to retailers of guns or 18+ items, although that is (mostly) understood by the membership.

I can see why someone new might not see that.

The rule could be updated to specify, "...guns or 18+ items for sale, retailers of same or looking for in Signatures..."

Just sayin'...

Hectic February 28th, 2013 22:21

posting a link to a retailer would technically be "posting of guns or other 18+ items for sale " even if you arent the direct seller youd still be posting a for sale gun

Deadpool February 28th, 2013 22:34

^ This!

Dreossk February 28th, 2013 23:14

And for the questions?

Hectic February 28th, 2013 23:21

google indicates there is an 8inch chrome wingun revolver

Dreossk February 28th, 2013 23:30

I mentioned Wingun above but I'm looking for something available in Canada. Every 8" chrome of the brand I said are out of stock.

augherk March 3rd, 2013 10:50

The WinGun/Skeleton Sidearms/ASG Dan Wesson/maybe 2 or three other rebrands are ALL the same gun. They fire hot, but you can either perform a modification on the valve or buy power down shells. The differences between the rebrands are finish and grip quality, and available barrel lengths and styles. I own an SS357 4" and it works great, but the branding decals suck, and I had to order a better grip because the faux wood colour was coming off the grip onto my hand. I've used an ASG dan wesson before and I gotta say, the finish was impressive. Exactly the same performance, but I'd recommend that over skeleton sidearms any day. You'd do best to stay away from anything Skeleton or Lucid. They are overpriced, poorly made and if you're going to buy a clone gun, respect yourself enough to buy non clear/tinted. Better stuff in canada is easy to find. Just don't ask here.

You could email one of the retailers to ask if they can get you an 8inch.

That is, if you're over 18.

580fps with .2 is hot but still under 4 joules (5.7j and 500fps being the min requirement before its considered a restricted firearm)

That wouldn't make it a firearm, thus not restricted

Dreossk March 3rd, 2013 16:37

Got a Dan Wesson 6". After more video viewing it seemed enough... And I don't like to wait. ;)
