i hear its standard issue for the americans and canadian forces i think

the "skull-crusher" is slowly being replaced by the PVS-14 monocular among American forces. Not sure about Canadian forces though.

REALLY!??!.. thats sad to hear.... the PVS 7b is so promising... looks sexy too =P
i actually think using a set of NVG's that have 2 lanses would be better, so you can have dept-perception (sp?)

*now if i can only find one like sam fishers that "glows" in the dark*
haha

Ibby July 27th, 2005 15:53

You won't get depth perception from one of those. Yes you have 2 lenses, but there's still only one objective lens and one image tube. No depth perception. I had to drive around Bosnia with those on, and it takes a bit of getting used to.
As far as Canadian kit, yes those are getting phased out and the entire forces are moving to a single standardized night vision unit from ITT in the US. They by far make the best tubes out there. I'm not sure of the model we're getting, but even their low end stuff kicks some serious ass...

if you try to turn on your sure fire with IR filters all players that have one nvg (1st or 2nd gen) traking you.... is like you turn on one ligth in the dark.

first gen in full wood is like your sony, if you don't use IR ligth you don't see nothing.

I prefer monocular, the question is easy if someone use hi power ligth your NVG turn-of but with monocular i have second eye to engage......

We're getting 5000 PVS-14s, with the breakdown being 3500 for land forces, 500 for non-land forces and 1000 yet to be funded. Its nice to see our troops getting proper kit.

I've got an ATN 6800 Gen 2+ scope. This thing is amazing, turns night into day, extremely clear. I use it on my Armalite for predator control.
