we've been adding new elements to the reanimation series each year.. and what seems to really get the blood pumping in players was the introduction of our 'hybrid zombies'. zombies who are half zombie, half human, meaning theyre able to run, sneak, hide, communicate and are extremely hard to kill.
trade off, they cant tolerate light. Lit areas are safe zones from hybrids, and flash lights will somewhat ward them off. It helps keep players on the beaten lit paths (and thus in the game zone) or can give the more experienced players a real run for their money if they wanna go crown a hybrid!
one thing we found with the whole idea of shooting a normal shambling zombie and the zombie falling down.. is that players would come to an area.. shoot a zombie.. and wait for it to get back up, shoot it again, put em down. Was more of a joke to players than a threat, so we introduced a rule saying that when a zombie is shot, it then crawls. its slow, but can still kill you, and while crawling is invincible for 30 seconds at which theyd get back up and shamble on.
this year we re trying something even more different.. will post up how it goes! the games next weekend! :)
